Are gearbox e-MTBs the future?… MBR tests the Haibike AllMtn CF11 Pinion MGU to find out

BRR Analysis
MBR's Alan Muldoon recently put the Haibike AllMtn CF11, equipped with the integrated Pinion E1.12 MGU and an 800Wh battery, through its paces to assess the viability of gearbox e-MTBs. This extensive range test aimed to cut through the considerable industry hype surrounding these integrated motor-gearbox units, which promise durability and low maintenance for the burgeoning e-mountain bike market. The findings suggest the Pinion system offers significant advantages, potentially shaping the future design and performance expectations for electric mountain bikes. It appears the future, for some, will involve fewer derailleur adjustments.
