Bafang launches RG E510 5-speed auto & manual electronic gear hub
BRR Analysis
Bafang has unveiled its new RG E510 electronic gear hub at the China International Bicycle Fair. This 5-speed system, offering both automatic and manual shifting, is specifically engineered for e-bikes, capable of handling mid-motors delivering up to 120 Nm of torque. It integrates seamlessly with Bafang's M210 (city), M410 (trekking), and M430 (cargo) motor systems, marking a significant step in their e-bike component offerings.
This launch is critical given the burgeoning e-bike market, where integrated, robust, and low-maintenance drivetrains are increasingly sought after. Internal gear hubs (IGHs) like the E510 address common e-bike challenges, such as chain wear, shifting under power, and the need for simplified operation, particularly in urban and cargo applications. Bafang, a dominant force in e-bike motors, is now solidifying its position in the complete drivetrain ecosystem, aiming to offer a more cohesive and reliable package to manufacturers.
While the E510 promises convenience and durability, its true test will be its real-world performance under sustained e-bike torque, and whether it can genuinely simplify the user experience without adding unnecessary complexity for manufacturers.
