Tour of Turkey: Iván Sosa climbs to stage 3 victory and into the race lead on first summit finish
BRR Analysis
Iván Sosa (Movistar Team) secured a decisive victory on Stage 3 of the Tour of Turkey, conquering the race's first summit finish on the Kiran climbs. The Colombian climber outpaced Sebastian Berwick (Israel-Premier Tech) by two seconds, with Nicolas Breuillard (St Michel-Mavic-Auber93) a further 12 seconds back in third. This win propelled Sosa directly into the overall race lead, establishing a slim advantage as the general classification battle begins in earnest.
This performance marks a significant moment for Sosa, who, after a promising start to his career with Team Sky/Ineos Grenadiers, has struggled to consistently deliver on his early potential. A former winner of the Tour de La Provence and Vuelta a Burgos, his move to Movistar was intended to reignite his climbing prowess. Securing a stage win and the leader's jersey in Turkey, albeit not a WorldTour event, offers a much-needed confidence boost and suggests a return to form for the 26-year-old.
While the Tour of Turkey is hardly the Giro, a win is a win, and Sosa clearly needed one. Let's see if this is the start of a genuine resurgence or merely a brief flicker in the Anatolian sun.
