Vittoria Introduces Air-Liner Light Road

BRR Analysis
Vittoria has officially launched its new Air-Liner Light Road insert, a tubeless tyre insert designed to prevent pinch flats, enhance ride quality, and offer limited run-flat capability for road cyclists. Weighing a claimed 47g per insert for the 28mm version, the product is available in three sizes – 25mm, 28mm, and 30mm – catering to various road tyre widths. This expansion of their Air-Liner range brings a proven mountain bike technology to the tarmac.
This introduction marks a significant push into the road tubeless accessory market, a segment that has seen considerable growth but also persistent challenges regarding reliability and ease of use. While inserts have long been a staple in mountain biking for puncture protection and rim preservation, their adoption on the road has been slower due to weight concerns and the perceived complexity of installation. Vittoria, a major player in tyres and accessories, is clearly banking on the increasing acceptance of road tubeless and the desire for enhanced puncture security, particularly for endurance riders and those tackling rougher surfaces.
Ultimately, Vittoria is offering another layer of protection in the ongoing battle against the roadside repair. Whether the marginal gains in flat prevention outweigh the added weight and installation fuss remains, as ever, a matter for the individual rider's patience and puncture history.
